Dell laptop doesn't boot after installing Windows 10 - Microsoft Community

hello installed windows 10 on dell inspiron yesterday night. laptop not booting. think it's not detecting operating system coz when exit setup, "checking media[fail]" comes written on screen.

i it's not booting coz whenever start laptop, black screen dell logo comes, disappears , laptop restarts. infinite loop.

please help!

it sounds installation media still in laptop , laptop trying boot . . .

when installed/upgraded windows 10, did change boot order in bios before installation , change boot hard drive after installation?

note: on dell systems there no need change boot order in bios, press f12 temporarily boot windows 10 installation media

is installation media still in pc, if is, remove , try booting windows again . . .

if above not applicable, first thing check hard drive:

when system boots, on dell logo, press f12 few times temporary boot menu

at bottom of temporary boot menu diagnottics

run dell diagnostics check hard drive - there no need run advanced diagnostics when asked

if hard drive ok, sounds laptop not seeing windows 10 . . .

did clean install windows 10 or upgrade?
