Need Help Fixing a Corrupted .WLMP File - Microsoft Community

hello,

my wife working on christmas video of our sons give out presents. after days of work, finished project when program started freeze on her. able save work before closing out program after restarting computer, movie maker says file either incompatible or corrupted. know compatible file since had been working , must corrupted since other .wlmp files still open.

i have looked around , found several threads in considerate_guy seems know talking fixing these files. tried follow advice found in thread describes looking @ file xml or in notepad , looking missing information. did both text , music sections since wife had been working on @ time of problem did not fix file. removed entries text , music sections see if resolve issues, did not either.

i tried chatting live tech support too, both reps spoke had me disable non-microsoft services , restart computer see if interfering program. did though program works fine other project files. 1 rep had me run sfc /scannow because said fix corrupted files. i'm fixes windows system files , not corrupted project file trying fix. ran anyways , finished without finding problems.

i'm looking can either @ file me , fix or me in direct contact considerate_guy since seems know movie maker problems inside , out.

on first blush, looks several of videoclip entries corrupted. have intime , outtime both equal 0. , several others have outtime earlier intime. take me time go through them manually. i'll try @ next week. sorry. :(

if have time , want yourself, try editing outtime entries bigger intime entries. @ least should able open file.
