Microsoft Backup is too resource intensive - Microsoft Community

i have microsoft backup , file history set , operating.  slows laptop toshiba laptop crawl and, though hd 1tb , external hd i'm backing 2tb, i'm using 1.5 tb of external backup drive.  i'm thinking file history overkill, saving many versions or copies of same file.

what suggestions have help?

you can adjust file history saves:  how use windows 10's file history backup feature | pcworld

you don't need have both file backup , file history.

and if want avoid problems either suggest sorting files user folders , periodically dragging them external.  can still use file history if want versions backed of documents it's leaner, have more reliable file set if windows becomes irreparable , need restore image.

you can try file backup might work better.  free on macrium - backing files , folders

which brings windows 10 image backup , restore keep in case windows becomes irreparable , needs restore in 20 minutes.  alternative that's popular macrium reflect free , easy use backup utility allows restore position on hard drive or replacement, whereas windows imaging requires restoring same offset (position) on drive , can give problem when replacing hard drive.

feel free ask questions , let know how goes.
