noticed there problems. first, power menu doesn't show anymore. used to, remember showing when first got computer. happened in 1 of many updates , don't know (or maybe did - don't know). next, when came on here solution, 1 possible solution involved opening task manager can't so! error message.

ran spc scan (or whatever command - don't remember now) , said there nothing wrong integrity of windows or that. real uneventful.

screenshot 1: see when click "power" button - blank rectangle

screenshot 2: see when attempt run task manager admin. searched task manager in cortana, though comes up, won't let me click it. right-clicked it, , chose run administrator , comes up.

hi william,

let's try these simple troubleshooting steps , see if corrects problem:

  • open registry editor.  open search/cortana , type regedit
  • using folders on left hand side, navigate following folder:
  • hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\power
  • on right, 1 of keys near top should called csenabled. click on this.
  • change value of key from 1 0.
  • after reboot should have power plans back, , able change advanced power options.

keep updated results.

regards.
