i haven't used surface pro 4 in while - maybe 6-7 months. recently, got around purchasing charging cables , started using computer again school.
noticed there problems. first, power menu doesn't show anymore. used to, remember showing when first got computer. happened in 1 of many updates , don't know (or maybe did - don't know). next, when came on here solution, 1 possible solution involved opening task manager can't so! error message.
ran spc scan (or whatever command - don't remember now) , said there nothing wrong integrity of windows or that. real uneventful.

let's try these simple troubleshooting steps , see if corrects problem:
- open registry editor. open search/cortana , type regedit
- using folders on left hand side, navigate following folder:
- hkey_local_machine\system\currentcontrolset\control\power
- on right, 1 of keys near top should called csenabled. click on this.
- change value of key from 1 0.
- after reboot should have power plans back, , able change advanced power options.
