i don't know idiots' idea in microsoft despite applying settings, group policies etc., there no way disable automatic restart of computer (after updates being applied). i'm computer engineer myself , windows' detection of "not using computer" stupid it's programmer. how can sure if use computer or not? enough track mouse , keyboard movements? simple that? how can stupid not think background processes have or network related things? maybe i'm downloading/uploading , don't want interrupt that. ever think that? or mission critical applications running in background? should check if computer restarted every hour or so? it? solution "genius" microsoft engineers (working in related department) have this?
i know microsoft has lots of great talented engineers , don't mean i'm saying engineers in microsoft of course i'm pissed of issue long time since encountered problems (big problems) this. give way this. don't care if should edit 100 registry keys or something. better nothing.
hi berk,
when windows downloads new updates, can’t apply them windows system files right away. install these updates, windows has shut down of operating system. however, can change active hours windows won't automatically restart computer.
in order change computer's active hours, follow these steps:
- go settings.
- click update & security click on windows update tab.
- under update settings, click on change active hours.
- set start , end time of active hours.
you can refer link more information on being prompted restart computer.
regards.
